Frozen and Frozen JR

Everything you need to bring Arendelle to life

Frozen JR is one of the most popular school and youth theatre musicals, and audiences arrive expecting magic: an ice palace that rises during “Let It Go”, swirling blizzards and snow on the final bow. Our Frozen package brings projection, lighting and effects together so your production delivers those moments without your team having to piece the technology together.

We have lit and projected Frozen JR on stage, so we know where the big cues are, how the scene changes flow and what works in school venues. Our own Frozen projection content comes with the package, so there is nothing extra to buy: we supply the content and the gear, program it and make sure it runs perfectly every night.

What is included

Your Frozen package

Projectors and floor projection

High-brightness laser projectors for the backdrop and the stage floor, with standard or ultra short throw lenses, rigging and a DMX shutter for clean blackouts, sized to your venue and set.

Projection content and playback

Our own Frozen projection content is included, ready to go. We program it into QLab for your venue and staging so every scene change lands on cue.

Lighting design

Icy blues and whites for Elsa’s world, warm Arendelle village looks, magical colour for the trolls and big moments that hit with the music.

Snow, haze and low fog

A snow machine for the big finish, low fog rolling across the frozen fjord and haze so every beam of ice magic shows up.

Cue-linked show control

Lighting and projections fire together from one GO, so your operators run a complex show with simple, reliable cues.

Tech support and training

We bump in, focus, program through tech week and train your students or crew to run the show, or operate it for you.

Scene by scene

Designed around the big Frozen moments

Every Frozen production has the same handful of moments the audience waits for. We design the lighting, projection and effects for each one so they land with the music.

Arendelle and the coronation

Warm, celebratory village and castle looks with the projected backdrop setting the scene for every location.

“Let It Go” and the ice palace

The signature moment. A coordinated lighting, projection and haze build as the ice palace rises behind Elsa.

The blizzard and the frozen fjord

Cold, stormy states with moving snow on screen, low fog across the stage and wind-swept colour.

“In Summer”

A burst of warm, sunny colour and a bright beach backdrop for Olaf’s summer daydream.

The trolls and the northern lights

Rich greens, magentas and shimmering sky effects that make the hidden folk feel magical.

The thaw and the finale

Ice gives way to spring, then real snow falls over the audience for the curtain call.

Two versions, two packages

Frozen JR or the full-length Frozen musical

Frozen JR package

Built for schools and youth theatre: one or two projectors, a compact lighting rig with moving lights, snow, haze and low fog, programmed so a student crew can run it with confidence.

Frozen (full-length) package

For community and pro-am companies staging the full Broadway musical: multi-projector playback, larger moving light rig, more effects, full show programming and an experienced operator.

Case study

Frozen JR, Girton Grammar 2024

FAQ

Frozen lighting and projection questions

Do you supply the projection content for Frozen JR?

Yes. We have our own projection content for Frozen JR and Frozen, and it is included in the package, so there is no separate backdrop pack to buy. We adapt it to your venue and staging, program it to your cues and supply everything needed to show it: projectors, screens, playback and programming.

Can you project onto the floor or our set instead of a screen?

Yes. We can project onto a cyclorama, a white backdrop, scenery flats, the stage floor or the set itself, and use mapping and masking so the image sits neatly on the surfaces you have.

Will the package work in a school hall or small theatre?

Yes. We scale the projectors, lenses and lighting rig to your venue. Ultra short throw lenses are ideal for halls with limited depth behind or in front of the stage.

Can our students run the lighting and projections?

Absolutely. We program lighting and projections to fire together from simple cues, then train your student crew during tech week. If you prefer, an ISLX operator can run every performance.

Do you do packages for the full-length Frozen musical as well?

Yes. Frozen JR suits schools and junior companies, while the full-length Frozen musical usually calls for a larger rig, more projection surfaces and more effects. We tailor the package to whichever version you are staging.

Can we hire just the projector or the snow machine?

Of course. Every item in the package is available from our equipment hire catalogue, from a single projector or snow machine to a complete rig.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as possible. Frozen JR is one of the most popular school musicals, so projectors, snow machines and tech week dates book out well ahead of each season.
